Phd work: Nutrient flux in a closed recirculation system with an integrated water treatment by seaweed-filter - Model and Reality Universitätsbibliothek Kiel - Elektronische Dissertation Bert Wecker

The subject of this research work is the integration of an seaweed filter into a recirculation system for an intensive fish production. In closed system the accumulation of final products of the fish metabolism, as nitrogen and phosphorus compounds, can lead to toxic conditions. Seaweeds remove part of these nutrients from the water. Thus seaweed filter are suitable for a process water clarifying and improve as usable by-product due to nutrient recycling the sustainability of resources and economy of fish production.
